Strategies

IQAC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for:
  •  Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks
  • The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes
  • Equitable access to and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society
  • Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning
  • The credibility of evaluation procedures
  • Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and functioning of the support structure and services
  • Research sharing and networking with other institutions in India and abroad.

Functions

Some of the functions expected of the IQAC are:
  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/ parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
  • Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
  • Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  • Documentation of the various programmes/ activities leading to quality improvement.
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices.
  • Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining/ enhancing the institutional quality.
  • Development of Quality Culture in the institution.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC

Outcomes of Activities of IQAC at DPU Pune

  • The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, on the advice of UGC, declared Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune as ‘deemed-to-be university’ constituting of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune vide its notification dated 11th January, 2003.
  • Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development included three more institutions under the ambit vide its notification dated 20th September, 2006.The Institutes were the Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pimpri Pune. These 3 Institutes were established in 2000.
  • UGC vide its Office Memorandum dated 16th March, 2010, also gave approval to the three new institutes, Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Pune, Global Business School & Research Centre, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Optometry & Visual Sciences, Pune.
  • On 4th August 2010, the Institute of Distance Learning, Pimpri, and Pune was given approval by the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC, New Delhi. Subsequently, UGC gave its confirmation for continuation on 3rd June, 2014. The latest approval was granted by UGC on 6th September, 2016 for 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic year. The Vidyapeeth has also applied online for recognition of theAcademic Session July, 2018.
  • Recently, the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD); vide its notification No. F.10-12/2016-U.3(A) dated 23rd February, 2018, on the advice of UGC, included the Dr. D. Y. Patil Homeopathic Medical College & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune and Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Ayurved & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune under the umbrella of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (Deemed to be University) as constituent colleges.
  • Initially starting with seven colleges, DPU has expanded to fourteen Constituent Units and two Centers, creating a strong brand in fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Biotechnology, Management, Ayurved, Homeopathy, Design, Allied Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, Science & Technology, and Online Learning. Each of these units is recognized by their respective Regulatory Councils, ensuring the highest standards of education and professional training.
  • On 3rd March, 2015, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has been re-accredited by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.62 on a four point scale at ‘A’ grade. This is valid up to 2nd March 2020. The Vidyapeeth is also an ISO 9001: 2015 Certified University.
  • On 8th February 2022 Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, has been Accredited (3rd Cycle) by NAAC with a CGPA of 3.64 (four-point scale) at ‘A++’ grade. The UGC has granted Category-I University status in 2018 and has included the University under section 12B of the UGC Act, 1956.
  • Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has achieved a rank between 601-800 by Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024, Ranked 66th in SDG-3 Good Health and Well-being.
  • Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune has been bestowed with Diamond Badge in QS I-GAUGE Indian University Ratings on 7th June, 2023.
  • All the four hospitals of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth have been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH).
  • The Molecular Diagnostic Lab and Central Clinical Lab have been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

NIRF-2023 Ranking, the Vidyapeeth has achieved the 15th rank in Medical Category, 3rd rank in Dental Category, 46th rank in University Category and 81st rank in the Overall Category in India.
NIRF-2024 Ranking the Vidyapeeth has achieved 5th rank in Dental Category, 11th in Medical Category, 44th in University Category and 63rd in Overall Category in India.
