Vice-Chancellor's Profile

Born on 25th December 1948 at Srinagar, Kashmir. Dr. Pushpati Nath Razdan had his initial education from Shrinagar. Dr. Razdan got his M.Sc. degree in chemistry from Kashmir University in 1971. He received his Ph. D degree from the University of Roorkee in 1976. Dr. P. N. Razdan was subsequently appointed as Assistant Professor at H.P. Agriculture University Solan in 1975. In addition to teaching at the university, he worked on "Residual Effect of Pesticide in Orchard Soils" and "Characterization of Saffron Soils". Dr. Razdan joined Geological Survey of India in 1983 and reached the level of Director (Geochemistry) in 1992. He was appointed as Dy. Director General in Feb.2005. As Sr. Deputy Director General and HOD NR, GSI, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, for more than three years, he looked after all the geoscientific activities of Northern Region such as Mineral Investigations, Geochemical and Geophysical Mapping, Seismic Microzonation, Engineering Geology, Glaciology and other Theme Oriented Research items.

During his 21 years of service in GSI, his field of specialization has been Analytical Geochemistry and has worked at BRGM France on Inductively Coupled Plasma. His contribution towards preparation of SRM in GSI has been highly significant and was associated with analysis of various references minerals under ISO/TC-10.. He was National Coordinator for NGCM Programme of GSI and Chairman of IGCP- 470 and 506. He has been the member of a number of subcommittees for the preparation of draft documents in BIS.

Dr. Razdan joined All India Council for Technical Education as Adviser-I in April 2001. He looked after various Bureaus, before joining as Advisor Quality Assurance (QA) and Member Secretary (NBA) in July 2002 for about 3 years. As the Member Secretary of NBA, he was responsible for Awareness of accreditation throughout the country. His contribution towards NBA becoming a member of Washington accord/ INQQHAE / Asian Accord is wide appreciated. Application for membership of Washington accord was submitted by Dr. Razdan at New Zeeland in 2004. He was a main architect for initial drafting of Regulations for "Entry & Operation of Foreign University /Institutions intending/intend to impart Technical Education in India. He is member of various societies such as Life member, Indian Society of Technical Education, Life member, Institute of Engineers, Life member, Institute of Chemist, Executive member, Indian society of Applied Geochemistry, Empanelled as adviser in Union Public Service Commission

Dr. P. N. Razdan has published a large number of research papers in various Journals of International repute. He was visiting faculty at Allahabad University and is guest faculty at GSI Training Institute. He was awarded H. K. Sen. Memorial Medal in 2006 by Institution of Chemist. Due to his administrative and scientific contribution he was nominated as member of High Power Committee on GSI. He was member of a committee of Revitalization of Technical Education in India. Dr. Razdan is the Member of Advisory Board of ITM University, Gwalior and SSM College of Engineering, Pattan, Kashmir.

Prior to joining Dr. D.Y.Patil University, Dr. Razdan was Pro Vice-Chancellor of KIIT University Bhubaneswar for about 2 Years, wherein he was overall responsible for various academic, administrative and research-related activities in seven independent Schools of Engineering having strength of about 6000 students. He has been associated in planning, implementing & monitoring various Value additions in academic programmes in the Universities.
